About the Golf Club

Located high on Coats Hill overlooking the town,it is some 670 feet above sea level and commands splendid views in all directions.

It was ideal land on which to build a golf course and Ben Sayers successfully incorporated all the natural undulations and hazards into his layout. Deceptive approach shots combined with subtle greens ensure that scoring is never easy.

Many golfers would agree that he succeeded in creating one of the most attractive, varied and interesting inland courses in the country.

When playing golf at Moffat it is easy to leave behind the concerns of modern life. Indeed on many of the holes there is nothing to be seen except the natural beauty of sky and hills.

The course is often referred to as "the jewel in the South". A round of golf at Moffat is always both challenging and inspiring.

Had a very enjoyable round on this traditional scottish heathland course. Although it is fairly short it is not as easy as many people would suggest with many blind shots and positioning off the tee essential. If you can do this well you'll have a good chance of scoring well.
