About the Golf Club

North Downs Golf Club’s dual claims to fame are that its golf course is probably the highest in southern England, peaking at 850 feet above sea level, and is contained totally within the Green Belt area around London.

This explains the spectacular scenery and views from anywhere and everywhere on the golf course. Founded in 1899, it is a Members’ Club that is not long by today's standards. Nevertheless, it is a challenging course; the lack of length is more than compensated for by the relatively small, sloping greens guarded by numerous strategically placed bunkers and other hazards.

what a great atmosphere we were met with when we arrived at the course. They were so at ease and happy to have you play their course. They do not have a tee time booking system so you are not in a rush to find the course so that you don't miss your slot. The course is not long but if you are not reasonably straight you can get into trouble with either the tree's and bushes or the slopes on the fairway's. The greens were in excellent condition and were faster than they look considering the amount of grass on them. Be careful where you park in the car park as it is not the biggest and we had a bit of trouble getting out, otherwise we had a great time and would definitely recommend the course to anyone.
