About the Golf Club

Formed in 1892 the club has no association with Newcastle United Football Club (when the golf club was founded there were only 'East-end' and a 'West-end' Football Clubs - later to merge to form Newcastle United Footbal Club).

The course, an undulating moorland format, was laid out by Tom Morris, is generally maintained in excellent order and provides a challenge to golfers of all ability.

My friends and I enjoyed a great days golf at this beautifully presented course, the greens were superb, and the members were very friendly. My favourite holes were the 12th, a dog leg left with a tricky drive over trees, 13th a long dog leg left, I laid up with my second shot for a birdie opportunity, and the 15th a great little par three guarded by two front bunkers and trouble behind. A must try course.
