About the Golf Club

For a 9 hole club we have a very active membership in all sections with particular emphasis on our juniors – both girls and boys, who are coached in not just the mechanics of playing the game but also in etiquette of being a good club member.

We have up to date facilities with a 7 acre practice ground, a practice net and a new putting green, due to be opened in June. Our clubhouse has an excellent bar and catering facilities and the Professional’s shop has a wide range of clothing and equipment. The present layout take into account many of the natural features of the land within it is set.

Tree planting in the last twenty years or so have ensured that, even with the advend of modern technology. Lightcliffe GC stills remains a good test of golf even for the longest hitters. The greens are a good test of ones putting ability and with their tricky borrows, questions will be asked of the best players.

The course was in great condition, the greens were like carpets. I have played this course a couple of times now and really enjoy it. Its not long so you could get round without using the driver, but, if you do then there is a reward for being brave. The greens are small and often raised, which means you will probably have a tricky pitch if your just a couple of yards off, once on the green they are fast but true. Its difficult to give this course a challange rating - all i can say is length doesnt matter, its how straight you are. Club house, practice ground and practice green are all good
