About the Golf Club
Hamilton Golf Club was founded in 1892 and was first located on a site near the now demolished Hamilton Palace, former home of the Dukes of Hamilton.
In 1925 the club moved to its present site and the new course layout was developed by the famous course designer, James Braid, who was also responsible for the layout of the King’s Course at Gleneagles among many others in this area.
A feature of the original layout is the number of bunkers which were included, all of which still come into play for the average golfer today.

Superb course. A classic Braid parkland layout with some fine mature trees and some cracking holes. It may not be the longest but it remains testing with plenty of preotection for the greens and many well-placed fairway bunkers to catch anyone hitting 260-300yrds. The condition of the course was outstanding for the time of year. They were playing preferred lies but I didn't need this once. It is certainly the best-drained course that I have played in the area this winter. If I'm forced into a minor gripe, the flags were a bit tattered. ff-course looked good too (although I did not really use the facilities) and the members friendly. Highly recommended
