About the Golf Club

Dean Wood may not be the longest course in Lancashire at just over 6,000 yards but it presents a subtle challenge that will entrap any careless or inaccurate golfer.

It is a course, as they say, of two halves: the first nine holes lie north of the Clubhouse, on flat parkland bordering and surrounded by Dean Wood; the second nine are totally different in character, every hole involving pronounced slopes.

Out of bounds is a constant threat and it is the strange boast of one member that he has actually projected his ball out of bounds on every single hole but not, of course, during the same round.

This is a course with two very contrasting halves; the first nine is quite flat with tight fairways and plenty of out of bounds to challenge you. The back nine on the other hand is quite undulating with some really picturesque tees. I found the club members very helpful and friendly, also the food and service in the clubhouse was excellent. On the whole I was very impressed with Dean Wood and would have no hesitation in recommending anybody playing this course.
