About the Golf Club

The course offers all players unlimited opportunities to complete a round with a real sense of achievement. Natural obstacles include a large lake on the 13th as well as a smaller lake on the 17th and many avenues of trees to thread your drive through. It is hard to believe that you are in an urban environment.

The course is laid out in a delightful woodland setting on the ridge of Bush Hill, on the southern side of Enfield, rather less than ten miles from Hyde Park Corner.

It falls into three distinct parts, the opening holes being laid out on a level plateau alongside the pleasant avenue leading from the lodge gates to the Club House, the outward journey taking us down towards the New River and Enfield on the northern slope of the ridge, and the last seven holes lying among the groves of birch and oak and elm on the southern side.

This includes the majority of the short holes and undoubtedly the course owes its immense popularity to the beauty of the settings of this part of the round, which especially in spring and autumn opens up one scene after another of sylvan loveliness.

This course is quite short but it is also a challenging course. The fairways can be tighter than my usual 'country' courses and the greens are small and often well protected. The bunkers deserve a mention as when I found myself in them (almost every approach to a green it seemed); they were 1st class and filled with light deep fluffy sand, far better than I am used too.
