About the Golf Club

Burnley Golf Club (known locally as Glen View) celebrated its Centenary in 2005. It probably ranks amongst the top five favourite courses of most golfers connected to the East Lancashire Golf Association.

Fair but challenging, Burnley Golf Club stands on the fringe of the Habergham Eaves moor which overlook Burnley and surrounding areas. It is a course which makes excellent use of the rolling countryside and offers a true test to golfers of every standard.

The course includes four par threes and only one par five for a total of 69, but when the wind blows even some of the shorter par four holes play more like par fives!

As well as being a very pleasant place to enjoy a round of golf, Glen View offers magnificent panoramic views from all over the course.

One can look over the town itself, over the surrounding villages and beyond Pendle Hill to the 'Three Peaks' of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent, and on a very clear day the Lakeland hills come into view.

Standing on the 1st tee I was thinking, OH NO, this is Kendal all over again, but after the climb to first green things got a bit easier, the views are fantastic, and the course is a good test, the wind will play a big part in how well you score here, the 18th from an elevated tee is one of them holes you could stand hitting balls all day. Very welcoming in clubhouse and pro shop.
