About the Golf Club

Take 540 acres in the grounds of one of Britain's most historic stately homes. Add two Championship 18-hole golf courses, a magnificently equipped Clubhouse and the first and only Faldo Golf Institute in Europe all with the spectacular backdrop of thousands of mature trees and woodland.

The par 73 Palmerston Course, designed by the renowned architect Donald Steel, wends its way through mature woodland. Rare Hornbeam, Scots and Corsican pine and 300 year oak trees create some of the most spectacular hazards you are ever likely to encounter on a golf course.

Together the Melbourne and the Palmerston must justly lay claim to being two of the finest courses in England. They provide the perfect backdrop for the golf tournaments that fill the social calendar. These include Professional and Members’ tournaments as well as Pro-Am tournaments where Members can meet and play with Professionals from around the world

Having played both courses here I woul;d say its perhaps my favourite English golf course. Brocket Hall is a stunning venue with a rarified atmosphere and just as importantly two amazing but different courses to test every golfer to the limit. The Melbourne plays across water on many holes and has an almost linksy feel in others while the Palmerston reminds me of Woburn, with treelined fairways and even more elevation! I love this place!!!

In 2004, my team got through to the final stages of the Daily Telegraph Junior Team Championships. We came from winning the Brunswick League to winning the regional finals at Mere, to getting to the National Finals at Brocket Hall. We played two rounds. One practice round and one competition round on the Palmerston Course. The course in our eyes was the 8th wonder of the world. Compared to our own course, Brocket Hall Was like a dream. The Course was in fine condition. Even the sponsorship boards were pristine! We were welcomed warmly and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, its definitely worth going!
