About the Golf Club

Perched on basalt outcrops overlooking the ancient fortress from which it takes its name, Bamburgh Castle Golf Club often referred to as the most picturesque in England is also a fine test of golf for all that play it, being a regular venue for County and Inter-County events.

Whilst not long at just over 5,600 yards off the back markers, the course is a demanding par 68. How you perform on the six par 3’s will often dictate your score, their difficulty being exampled by the 6th, an uphill 224 yard hole which warrants its Stroke Index one. Good birdie opportunities also await you however particularly on the three closing holes, where there are two par 4’s under 300 yards.

The course was tremendous and provided a very different type of challenge from a lot of courses where "crash and bash" is the order of the day. The blind holes were a real joy and the greens were very smooth given the conditions. Would have no hesitation in going back.
