Is FootJoy really the choice of the professionals?

Shoes and gloves for golfers of all abilities

Is FootJoy really the choice of the professionals on the PGA and European Tours? Well if the Ryder Cup is anything to go by, then yes they are the Number 1 shoes and glove for the elite.
This weekend, FootJoy will have many of the world’s best golfers promoting their products as the European and US teams battle out golf’s premier team competition at Celtic Manor in Wales.
In total, 11 players will be putting their faith in shoes made by the company including the likes of Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy from the European team and Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan and Bubba Watson for the United States.
Five players will also choose the FootJoy glove and they include Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter and Zach Johnson.
So why do so many use one brand?
Obviously sponsorship will play a massive part in their choice of glove or footwear but if you look around your local golf shop, FootJoy will be more prominent than other makes when looking at shoes and gloves. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I looked at a glove that wasn’t by FootJoy.
They really are the prominent brand in the golf world and in the areas they choose to service, not many can match the quality and value for money they provide.
I wear FootJoy shoes and have done for the past 10 years. I have only had to change shoes once in that time. I wear Footjoy gloves – I have about 10 in my bag! – and I always find these comfortable and long lasting.
I think FootJoy will probably see a rise in their sales after the weekend as the Ryder Cup fever grabs fans from all across the world. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing as they really are a comfortable fit for all abilities of golfer.
