A remarkable venue for more than just golf

St Mellion International Resort is nothing short of spectacular

St Mellion International Resort

Nestled away in the glorious Cornish countryside is perhaps the country’s finest golfing establishment, a truly world class arena to enjoy our wonderful game in the splendour of God’s paradise-like surroundings.
And that place is the prestigious St Mellion International Resort, a club that boasts two courses that cater for every standard of golfer as well as leisure and hospitality features to rival most in this land. Over the next three blogs I will be looking at St Mellion’s ‘Signature course’ designed by no other than Jack Nicklaus, its second 18-holer, the ‘Kernow Course’ and the overall facilities that St Mellion boasts. And we’ll start with the facilities in general.
Driving up the long entrance to St Mellion, you immediately feel that you’re about to embark on something special. Rolling green landscape is merged with a modern, fresh hotel building and you are immediately struck by how clean and well maintained every single square inch of this terrific location is.
Upon arrival we received an impressive and friendly welcome and that was a constant part of our day. In between rounds, the staff were practically falling over themselves to help us and make sure our time at St Mellion was as enjoyable as possible. From the guys in the pro-shop to the waiting staff in the The Bewdern Brasserie, I really can’t compliment them all highly enough.
I must make special mention for a young lady, named Megan, who waited on our table and to club Director of Golf David Moon. Megan epitomised everything that St Mellion is about in my humble opinion. She was friendly, courteous, intelligent and knowledgeable about everything within the establishment from the local bitter on tap to the courses themselves.
David, on the other hand, showered us with a wealth of knowledge about the courses and was extremely open to answering questions honestly. Having never played here before, his knowledge and advice was well received and helped tremendously as we embarked on the tough Nicklaus course in the morning.
St Mellion is more than just a golf club, however, as should you wish to take your wife, husband, girlfriend or whomever, there is certainly plenty on offer.
From a spa to indoor gym and swimming pool plus luxurious accommodation, sensational food and facilities for business meetings, this really is a stunning all-round venue that everyone can enjoy. And if you’re thinking of finding the perfect wedding venue, then look no further they do that too!
As you can tell, this really was a fantastic experience and although it may appear beyond belief, St Mellion International Resort managed to deliver on all fronts. A thoroughly enjoyable day at one of the best venues I have ever played this beautiful game.
