Direct Golf UK staff are taking part in a 24-hour golf marathon in May to raise funds for a member of staff undergoing treatment at London's Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability.

Mark Howe was managing the Direct Golf UK store in Edgware when he started suffering from headaches. A scan showed a brain tumour, which was removed. The tumour went deeper than first thought, however, leading to meningitis and then pneumonia on the brain which spread to his lungs. He is now undergoing rehab therapy at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. Mark is currently in a wheelchair and his upper body is working well, his brain remembers everything, he can speak but no sound comes out. He is working hard on this and some improvement is being made, this may come back fully over time.

The Chairman, Managing Director, Directors and Managers of Direct Golf UK are all taking part in the 24-hour, non-stop golf marathon, which starts at 12 noon on 4th May, with play continuing until 12 noon on 5th May. A combination of PGA Professionals, passionate golfers and staff are hoping to raise as much money as possible to buy Mark specialist computer equipment with touch screen, voice-projecting software, which allows him to communicate with family and loved ones, as well as the wider world online.
