CASEY'S RIB-TICKLER
Remember Paul Casey? He was the guy who was strolling towards the biggest pay day of his career by winning The Race To Dubai. That was before he was sidelined for three months with a rib injury. As a player who plays himself into form, can he put on a big performance when he really needs it?

DRUG BARRON
Former PGA Tour player Doug Barron has made history as the first golfer to be suspended for a year for failing a drugs test. Tiger says: 'Tough luck, but them's the rules', Phil Mickelson suggests a mix-up, pointing to a variety of medical problems that has cost the Nationwide Tour player his playing rights.

LET'S GET THIS RORY STRAIGHT
Is Rory McIlroy going to play on The European Tour or in the US next year? According to his management, he's heading Stateside; but that's not what the Irish teen sensation has been telling the golf hacks. Not that we're the types to go and tell people how to do their jobs or anything...

A BREAK FROM THE NORM II
Tiger Woods will swing on Australian soil for the first time since 1998s Presidents Cup next month. Woods plays The Australian Open in Sydney, but Greg Norman will not be in attendance - his gammy shoulder taking longer to recover from surgery than expected.

LIFE IS TWEET
The week in golf in 140 characters - they call it a twoosh you know…
England’s top boy is Ross Fisher, wotever Poults sez. Eurpe 9 – US 8 in Top20 rankings ;) Joy for Choi, Cook + Roberts too. Where will Rory play nxt yr? Don’t ask us (or him!)

TIC-TOC TIGER
Check out his week's 'look how powerful and influential Tiger Woods is' story. The field for the 2010 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am has been cut by 48 players. Is it mere coincidence that Tiger hasn't played the event since 2002, has complained about having to play five hour rounds due to the size of the field and is sponsored by At&T?

WIE SHALL NOT BE MOVED
When she played full-time she flopped, but now Michelle Wie can rightly claim to be one of the leading female golfers in the world, irrespective of the fact that she divides her time between her studies and playing. Great news, then, that she'll be joining the field for the Ladies European Tour finale, the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, in December.

MISSING IN ACTION
Steve Carrell, US star of The Office, is rumoured to be working on a new comedy based on Rick Reilly's novel, Missing Links, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which tends to know about these things.

DUMPING IRON
The days of the classic blade could be numbered, according to a selection of golf boffins. Personally, I'd have a better chance of out-driving Tiger Woods with a garden rake than one of Mizuno's works of art.
