What do you mean you were watching the cricket?!

WIE WILL ROCK YOU (AGAIN)
Obviously, victory for the USA over Europe in The 2009 Solheim Cup wasn't just down to Michelle Wie's good form, as they triumphed 16-12 after turning the tide during Sunday's singles matches. But her 3-0-1 record for the week made her the top performer for the US and included an impressive singles win against Helen Alfredsson.

MOORE THAN THIS
Ryan Moore, a man who carried a glittering amateur career into PGA Tour golf like a heavy burden back in 2005, won the rain-affected 2009 Wyndham Championship on the third hole of a three-way playoff with Kevin Stadler. Let's just hope it makes him happy...

OH NO, SERGIO...
Ever had one of those days? Sergio Garcia has had one of those years and even the coldest-hearted golf fan must be feeling a little sorry for him after he let a last-round lead go for what seems like the umpteenth time in his career. A remarkable 35-yard bunker shot on the 72nd hole missed by an inch, denying him a play-off spot.

LA VIE EN ROSE
Another golfer struggling for good form in 2009, Justin Rose is slowly bringing it back, with four top-30 finishes in his last five events and fifth place at The 2009 Wyndham Championship, his best knock since coming second at The 2009 Dubai Desert Classic in January.

DYSON CLEANS UP
These headlines are just too easy this week... Simon Dyson (nephew of Spurs legend Terry, in case you didn't know) won The 2009 KLM Open for the second time in four years after emerging victorious in a playoff with Peter Hedblom and Peter Lawrie.

SING IF YOU'RE GLAD TO BEGAY...
Tiger Woods won the second annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge which is all good as Begay and Woods go back to the days when they were college room-mates. In case you were wondering, the headline is from an old Tom Robinson Band song (ask your parents).

WHEN TIGER MET BARACK
Inevitably, it would happen, but sooner than expected, it would appear. Rumours of a quiet game of golf between Tiger Woods and the Duffer-In-Chief (as Barack Obama is unkindly described in the Boston Herald) may take place next week at The Vinyard Golf Club (www.vineyardgolf.com) in Massachusetts.

YOU NEED BALLS...
...Plenty of balls. That's our advice to Barack Obama if the presidential golf swing is anything to go by...

PHIL 'EM UP
Every year, Phil blows it. No, not his chance to notch another major, but a significant wad of cash donated to the Wal Mart Start Smart project. For the past five years, Phil Mickelson has given in the region of $250,000 to disadvantaged kids in San Diego for a free shopping spree of school equipment. This year, he kitted out 1,500 kids and his total spend over the past five years is thought to be around $250,000. He can afford it, of course, but hats off to him nonetheless.
