YANG BANG
Yong-Eun Yang made history by winning The 2009 PGA Championship with an almost nerveless last-day performance. But what's this about him being a complete unknown as the media have described him? I'd love to be a complete unknown if I turned up at Hazeltine with a PGA Tour title to my name and over $2.5million in winnings this year alone...

TIGER TAMED
Equal to the shock of Yang's win was the way Tiger Woods shot 75 in the last round of the 2009 PGA Championship, to miss the chance of winning his 15th major title. For once, the golfing gods were not on his side as countless putts slipped past the hole. But as revered golf writer Dan Jenkins said, win or lose Tiger's still great news.

BAK FOR GOOD
Funny how winning a silly little golf tournament can make you a lot of new friends. Yang can count Lee Myung-bak as one of his muckers now, after the South Korean president called to congratulate the man they call 'Son Of The Wind'.

RICH PICKINGS
Yang's story of how he graduated from a range ball retriever to a successful tour player is one of the greatest Cinderella story of recent times. Let's hope they never make the Hollywood film and spoil it for everyone...

MURRAY'S MINT
Talking of Cinderella Stories ...

ROYAL FOLLOWING
So what do you think the odds would have been the following major championship winners: Angel Cabrera, Lucas Glover, Stewart Cink and YE Yang turning out at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Bermuda's fabulous Port Royal course in October? Keep an eye out for a cracking new Port Royal website to be launched before the event...

QUOTE ME HAPPY
Thanks to ASAP Sports for their amazingly detailed press conference interview transcripts from The 2009 PGA Championships. How else would we have kept up to date with what the players said after each day's play?

WOOD BE GOOD
Bristolian Chris Wood is familiar to many British golf fans for impressive performances in the 2008 and 2009 Open Championships. Wood is not so well-known to US Customs Officials, who gave him a grilling before letting him in to play the 2009 PGA Championship.

OBAMA: GOLF JUNKIE
Hurrah! It's yet another regular mention of Lawrence Donegan's Guardian golf blog! Check out what US comedian Bill Maher has to say about Barack Obama's increasing interest in golf.
