Rose is the latest to sign up for the Hong Kong Open

Justin Rose is looking for his first European Tour win since 2007

Justin Rose has become the latest in an increasingly long line of European Tour players to sign up for the UBS Hong Kong Open, hoping to add a European title to his success in America this season when the contest tees off in December.

The current world number 17 won his third PGA title at the BMW Championship and is now in pursuit of his first European Tour victory since 2007, which came at the Volvo Masters in Valderrama. Rose has never played in the Hong Kong Open before, a tournament won last year by his close friend, Ian Poulter.

He claims that his recent success in America has spurred him on to add the competition to his already long schedule, saying “It would be great to round off the year with a victory in Hong Kong and to win another European Tour title. I know the atmosphere was great there last year when Poults won and I want to experience it for myself.”

The list of competitors will make it difficult for Rose, however, with players of the calibre of Miguel Angel Jimenez and Edoardo Molinari already confirming their participation, not to mention compatriot Ross Fisher, and I haven’t even mentioned the reigning champion in Poulter and Rory McIlroy, who will both be in attendance.

Rose won the European Order of Merit in 2007 and should certainly have won more tournaments than the seven he has to date. He’s shown great promise over the years and at 31-years of age now, it’s time to turn that promise into success, similarly to the likes of Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.
