Poulter Chooses Rose As World Cup Partner
Successful Ryder Cup pairing to represent England
Posted Sep 02, 2011 by Chris White
Justin Rose has been selected as the second member of England’s team to take part in the World Cup at Mission Hills in China in November.
Ian Poulter, the automatic selection for England because of his ranking, was able to choose his close friend and it was an even easier choice after the higher-ranked Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Paul Casey all turned down the chance to represent their country.
The duo were paired together at the 2008 Ryder Cup and won two of their three matches, and prior to that they were teammates for England at the 2007 World Cup.
England are one of the last countries to finalise their team, with Scotland, Ireland and Wales already confirming their partnerships. Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher will represent the Scots, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell will play for Ireland, while Jamie Donaldson and Rhys Davies make up the Welsh team.
Brothers and Ryder Cup pair Francesco and Edoardo Molinari will be representing Italy and defending the title they won in 2009.
