Bjorn now has 13 European Tour titles

Thomas Bjorn followed his victory at the Johnnie Walker Championship last week with a 4-shot win at the Omega European Masters.

The Dane who is in arguably the form of his life, shot a final round 62 at Crans-sur-Sierre to finish 20-under par having started the final round 3 strokes behind overnight leader Jamie Donaldson. Five birdies on the front nine including four in a row saw him reel in the leaders, including world number three Martin Kaymer – who missed a two-foot putt on 14 that would have taken him two shots clear of the chasing pack.

The 40-year old made him pay for his mistake as he sunk an eagle at the par-5 15th and went on to seal his third victory of the season to add more silverware to the cupboard that has now seen two new arrivals in a week.

Kaymer finished second on 16-under with Rory McIlroy tied for third with Donaldson and Jaco van Zyl on 15-under.

Bjorn now has 13 European Tour titles with the first dating back as far as 1996, and he now leads the standings ahead of the Ryder Cup with this week’s European Masters also acting as the first qualifying event for the European team.
